WORK has begun on the construction of a £1m roundabout scheme to open up a vital access to part of the South Tees Development Corporation site.

The scheme has been developed to meet the emerging needs of the South Tees Regeneration Programme and opens up strategic access to 350 acres of developable land.

This is the first construction project to be delivered by the Development Corporation. It was originally developed by Redcar & Cleveland Council, and is being funded through the Tees Valley’s Combined Authority.

Cllr Sue Jeffrey, leader of Redcar and Cleveland council and vice chair of the South Tees Development Corporation, said: “This is a great first step on the long road that will bring jobs and investment to the South Tees Development Corporation."
