PART of a cemetery has been cordoned off following reports of an incident on Sunday night.
Durham Constabulary has confirmed officers are in the early stages of an investigation after being called at about 11pm.
A Durham Constabulary spokesman said: “Police were called shortly after 11pm last night following reports of an incident in the cemetery at South Church, in Bishop Auckland.
“Officers are conducting inquiries in the area this morning, although the investigation remains at an early stage.
“Anyone who was in the area last night and witnessed any suspicious behaviour is asked to ring Bishop Auckland CID on 101."
