POLICE were called to quiet residential street after a 4x4 smashed through gates of a property into another car before being set on fire.
A loud bang, believed to be a firearm being discharged, was heard during the incident in Wingate, east Durham, last night.

A Durham Police spokesman said: “Officers were called at 6.20pm last night to an incident in Coronation Road, Wingate.
“A vehicle drove through the front gates of a property and subsequently hit another vehicle which was parked on the driveway.
“The vehicle, which was being driven by an unknown suspect, was then set on fire, along with damage being caused to other vehicles parked in the street.
“A loud bang was also heard, which was believed to be a firearm being discharged. “The incident involved a number of suspects who made off from the scene.”
Two men have since been arrested and are currently in police custody. Inquiries are are ongoing to trace other suspects.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Gray, from Durham Constabulary, said: “We would like to reassure residents that we believe this was a targeted incident and that there is no threat to the wider community.
“We also believe nobody was injured in the incident.”
A County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We can confirm that we attended Coronation Street, in Wingate,
“We received a call at 18.20pm to attend Coronation Street, Wingate. A report was of a house and three cars involved.
“Three appliances attended and there were four breathing apparatus used and all persons were accounted for. The ambulance wasn’t required and the last pump left at 19.20pm.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 344 of November 21.
