A dispersal order has been put into force around a North East shopping centre following reports of antisocial behaviour.

Cleveland Police have confirmed the order will be in place around Vaughan shopping centre in Netherfields, Middlesbrough until Tuesday (March 19) evening.

The order gives police the power to ask those in large groups to leave the area for 48 hours.

Officers will also be conducting high-visibility patrols.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “A dispersal order has been put in place around Vaughan shopping centre in Netherfields, Middlesbrough, after reports of antisocial behaviour.

“The order will run until Tuesday evening, and gives officers the powers to ask anyone in large groups to leave the area for 48 hours. If they return they could be arrested for breaching the order.

“Residents should not have to put up with antisocial behaviour and officers will ask anyone suspected of being involved to leave the area.

“Anyone who may wish to report ASB incidents in this area are asked to call 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.”

Officers have released an image showing the area where the dispersal order is in effect.
