The Met Office is predicting a very rainy start to the day in Darlington.

After two hours of heavy rain to start the day it will begin to brighten by lunchtime.

It is predicted that there will be one more heavy spell of rain at 3pm this afternoon.

By the evening the rain will have moved on with the Met Office predicts a chilly and clear evening.

There will be highs of 13C and lows of 6C, with the sun due to set at 17.41pm.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Cloudy and wet to start the day.

"Rain moving northwards, clearing southern areas by late morning and northern parts by mid-afternoon.

"Sunny spells then developing, but also scattered showers, these heavy at times.

"Breezy. Maximum temperature 13 °C.
