JOHN Robertson remains right in the mix for medals with four races remaining in the Paralympic sailing regatta.
Robertson and his Sonar crew of Hannah Stodel and Steve Thomas lie sixth overall but are just four points adrift of Paul Callahan’s American team in a closely fought fleet.
Jens Kroker’s German boat lies second overall while Udo Hessels’ Dutch team look good for gold with a healthy advantage.
But Robertson, who finished sixth in yesterday’s only race, remains upbeat.
“We had a pretty good day for the conditions, we sailed a lot better and got a reasonable result and the guys that we needed to beat were mainly behind us, which is good,” said Robertson of Sunderland.
“The race we got was pretty tricky, as it has been all week, but the boat was going quick.
“Patience is definitely the key, if we remain patient it will come, but we are running out of races and we know that. We know where we are and we are confident we can nail it.”
Veering breezes caused one of yesterday’s races to be postponed and with more variable conditions forecast for this week, Robertson’s crew believe that could be advantageous, given their knowledge of the home waters in Portland Harbour.
