Crook keeper Barry Poskett is in trouble with his club after storming out at half time in their 3-1 home defeat by Sunderland RCA in the Brooks Mileson Northern League cup last night.

Poskett conceded two goals in the first half and during the interval quickly packed and left the ground, to be replaced by Marc Riches. Gavin Barton and Dale Jardine scored for the RCA in the first half, with Jardine adding the third. Richard Hodgson pulled a goal back in the last minute.

Crook assistant manager Stu Gooden said: "We decided to sub Barry at half time, and he didn't like it. His reaction is something that we will be dealing with in house. As for the game,  I thought we played very well, and created some good chances."

RCA manager Neil Hixon said: "Our performance was poor, but it was a good result."

Consett ’s Luke Sullivan scored four times in the second half as they beat Newton Aycliffe 7-2 in the Brooks Mileson Northern League Cup last night.

Consett took the lead in the opening minutes when Michael Mackay scored following an error in the Aycliffe defence, but Danny Earl quickly equalised for the visitors, who included former Darlington winger Danny Lambert in their side. Mackay restored Consett’s lead from the spot, but Nathan Wilson also scored with a spot kick for Aycliffe.

However, midway through the second half , Sullivan made it 3-2, and went on to complete his hat trick in the next 15 minutes. Mackay then completed his own hat trick for good measure, before Sullivan scored his fourth in the last minute.

Manager Kenny Lindoe said: "It was a tight game for an hour, when the fourth went in, the floodgates opened, and we ran out comfortable winners. I would have liked a clean sheet but with more changes in the back four, I think I expect too much."

Dunston beat Shildon 4-1 at the UTS Stadium to maintain their recent improvement. Ben Cattanach gave Dunston an early lead, with Andy Bulford scoring twice to make it 3-0. Danny Richmond pulled a goal back for Shildon, with Stephen Craggs adding the fourth.

Dunston manager Billy Irwin said; "It was a good win against a good team." Shildon boss gary Forrest said: "I thought we did ok in the first half. We missed two great chances and gifted them two goals. In the second half, they wanted it more than we did."

Former Hartlepool and Darlington full back Paul Arnison scored one of Celtic Nation’s goals in their 5-1 home win over Brandon.

In the Durham Challenge Cup, South Shields easily saw off Horden by 6-0, while Chester-le-Street came from behind to beat Peterlee 3-1. Chester-le-Street manager Colin Wake said: "It was a tough game in the end, due to our lack of quality in the first half. We gave the ball away far too cheaply and kept Peterlee in the game by not killing them off until near the end. "

Durham City had a good 3-1 away win at Tow Law. Scott Fenwick put Durham into the lead, with Mattie Scott levelling before half time. Craig Hindmarch made it 2-1 with a 25 yarder, and Elliott Cutts made the game safe in the last minute. Tow Law manager Gary Anderson said: "We're very unfortunate to be out of the Cup, after the amount of pressure and chances we piled on Durham, but chances don't win games, and Durham took theirs." Durham manager Dickie Ord said: "The players dug in, and I'm pleased with their attitude."

Darlington RA lost 3-0 at home to Jarrow Roofing, and manager Nick Harrison said: "We were worse than Saturday at Bedlington. The best part of the game tonight was the warm up. We forgot the basics of football." Jarrow Roofing manager Richie McLoughlin said: "After they beat us last week, we were really up for the game."
