Easington aren't dead yet -- that's the message coming from the club after a dramatic 24 hours.

On Saturday night and Sunday morning, the obituaries were written about the demise of the 99 year old club, which had submitted its resignation to league chairman Mike Amos on Saturday night following their 14-0 drubbing at league leaders Team Northumbria to leave them well and truly stranded at the bottom of the second division table.

But now manager Andy Colledge has vowed to keep the club alive, and he said: "I've spoken to Mike Amos and we at Easington will carry on for no. I for one, will make sure this club won't go to the wall. There's a lot of history at this club and it's staying."

A meeting has been arranged for tomorrow night in Easington, and Colledge said: "I'm very hopeful we will get things in place off the field with some new faces coming on board.

"On the field yesterday was very hurtful to everybody involved with club, but the lads who did bother to show up did us proud.

"We will fight all the way to keep this club going."

The league has confirmed that the club has asked to withdraw its resignation, and will now be seeking assurances that they will be able to fulfil the home game with Darlington RA on Saturday.
