Darlington RA produced the comeback of the season so far when they scored four times in the last 20 minutes to snatch a 4-4 draw at Hebburn last night in the STL Second Division.

The RA seemed to be down and out when Hebburn striker Liam McBryde completed his hat trick to put Hebburn into a 4-0 lead on 68 minutes.

But three minutes later, Hebburn keeper Dan Regan carried a Gavin Swankie long range effort over his own line, and on 76 minutes Steve Cheeseman pulled another goal back.

James Evison made it 4-3 on 84 minutes, and in the third minute of stoppage time, Jimmy Muir equalised. Darlington RA manager Nick Harrison said: "I asked for commitment and questioned the players after Saturday's first half when we lost at West Allotment. I think the answer is apparent, when we try to pass the ball, we are a different side."

Hebburn manager Paul Bennett was stunned. "Words fail me," he said.

Shildon had a good 4-1 away win at Penrith in the first division.

Warren Byrne gave them the lead from the penalty spot, with Ian Watson adding the second from close range. Grant Davidson pulled a goal back for Penrith, but Steve Johnson ran through and fired over the keeper to make it 3-1, and then Craig Price got the fourth with a 25 yarder. Shildon manager Gary Forrest said: "The difference between tonight and the rest of the season is, that we took our chances."

Ashington came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with South Shields at Woodhorn Lane. Shields led with goals by Stephen Ramsey and Andrew Soulsby, but Ashington scored twice in the last twenty minutes through Jonny Godsmark and James Taylor. Shields had Andrew Barclay dismissed for two yellows in stoppage time, and then defender Lee Bell was red carded for dissent afetr the final whistle.

In the second division, Gillford park climbed from 8th to 3rd with a 3-1 home win over Alnwick.

Thornaby were stunned in the North Riding Senior Cup, losing 5-4 on penalties to Grangetown Boys Club, who came back from 2-1 down to level in stoppage time. Thornaby manager Ray Morton said: "We we were winning 2-1 in added on time and they equalised. We used several youth team players, but fair play to Grangetown they kept going."
