Shildon manager Gary Forrest says that his side was “more committed” against Newton Aycliffe last Saturday, and wants more of the same tonight in their first qualifying round replay in the FA Vase tonight..

Forrest blasted his players for a sub standard display against West Auckland last midweek, but he was more satisfied with the performance in the first clash between the two neighbours last Saturday.

He said: “There was more commitment and desire, and we passed the ball a bit better. We were solid at the back, but just lacked creativity at times.” Defender Richie Paxton and midfielder Craig Price are both missing tonight, while striker Ross Gardner and defender Justin Keegan both return.

Newton Aycliffe manager Allan Oliver says: “It’ll be another tight game, and should be a good one for the neutral.” Oliver will probably choose from an unchanged squad.

In the league, champions Spennymoor, who haven’t scored in two matches, are at home to Stokesley, who lost 9-1 in the league last Saturday.

New signing Gavin Barton is expected to make his debut after signing from Sunderland RCA, but another striker, Adam Johnston, is still missing because of injury. Moors have transfer listed strikers John Alexander and Craig Hubbard, while defender Jamie Poole has gone to Consett..

Billingham Town, who are second bottom, have a tough away game at Bedlington, and they welcome back defender James Crossman and midfielder Craig Perry to their squad. Town have yet to win in six league games this season.

In the second division, second placed Darlington RA are at home to Whickham. Freddie Huscroft and Nick Lyons are out injured, but Paul Freary, Graham Whitehead and Karl Thompson all come back in contention.

Whickham manager Neil Saxton made nine changes to the team for their Vase defeat by Gillford Park last Friday, and most of those rested players will return.

North Shields manager Anthony Woodhouse could make several changes to his team at home to Easington, following their Vase defeat last Saturday. Easington are missing Simon Todd and Chris Pearson, but they include new signing Lee Knight.

Hebburn, who are at Morpeth, include keeper Richard Oliver, who is their sixth keeper of the season, while Clayton Davis, Lee Harrison and Paul Hutchinson will all have fitness tests.

Washington, who have failed to win in their last xxx games, are at home to Ryton and welcome back John Lydon, but Mark Fish and Paul Bonnick are still missing.

Ryton have signed Matty Wade from Bedlington, and he will probably make his debut, but striker Kraig Wilkinson is injured. Full back Robbie Blemmings returns.
