Spennymoor Town manager Jason Ainsley is looking for a very positive response from his players at home to Jarrow Roofing tonight.

Ainsley blasted his players for their shambolic defending in the shock defeat at Stokesley last Saturday, and asked whether there were any injury problems for tonight’s game, he replied: “No, nobody got close enough to tackle, let alone get injured.”

Roofing, who have won only once since October, are missing four players because of suspension and injury, while striker Craig Nelson returns from injury.

Because of Stokesley’s win, the pressure is on Bishop Auckland at home to Tow Law, as third point Stokesley are just a point behind Bishops now. Bishops will be at full strength, while Lawyers are missing Lee Dial because of injury, but striker Matty Scott and midfielder Mikey Hall both return. Bishops striker Andy Emson could be leaving the club for pastures new within the next 48 hours.

Ashington, who are at home to Billingham Town, will be at full strength, while Town add striker Andy Jennings and defender Richard Dacombe to their squad.

Dunston have a local derby at bottom club Ryton, and will be at full strength, except for striker Micky Dixon, who will have a fitness test.

Second bottom Esh Winning face Whitley Bay and welcome back Paul Henderson-Reay and Marc Nixon to their attack. Whitley are missing suspended defender Steve Gibson, while midfielder Damon Robson is injured.

In the second division, Guisborough can go eight points behind leaders Newton Aycliffe at home to Crook, and they will probably be unchanged from the team that beat Brandon 4-0 on Saturday.

Crook welcome back four players who missed the weekend win over Darlington RA, including striker Kevin Devine, while they include new centre half Dan Sanders from Durham in their squad. They have also signed Callum Charlton, a left/back midfielder who has been on a scholarship in America.

Horden face troubled Gillford Park, and will be without two players who are having trials at pro clubs. Ash Corker is at Stockport, and Danny Parker is at Cowdenbeath.

North Shields, who are at home to Team Northumbria, will give fitness tests to Rob Livermore and Stephen Robinson.

Whickham take on Chester-le-Street after the game was postponed on Saturday. Whickham are missing striker Andy Snaith, while Craig Rook and Scott Palmer are both doubtful. Chester will give keeper Kyle Barlow a fitness test after he went off injured early in last week’s game against Gillford Park, so youngster Alex McKenzie stands by. Defender Kyle Bird is also a doubt.

In the league cup, holders South Shields are at home to Sunderland RCA, and include new signing Dan Olusoga from Bishop Auckland. Shields are his fourth club this season, following West Auckland, Hebburn and Bishops.
