Shildon manager Gary Forrest is looking for a repeat performance in their third round FA Vase tie at home to Coalville on Saturday -- providing it can escape the weather..

Shildon bounced back from their enforced break with a 7-1 trouncing of neighbours Bishop Auckland in midweek, and Forrest said: “Some of our football was unbelievable the other night, and some goals were outstanding. There was plenty of energy and movement, and proves that we can give anybody a game.

“We will be going into the game in good heart.”

Midfielder Danny Richmond is still missing because of suspension, but keeper Keith Finch returns after a one match ban, and winger Sam Garvie and midfielder Bobby Moore both return to the squad after missing the midweek game.

But Coalville will be tough opponents, as they are top of the Midland Alliance, having lost just once in 19 league games this season.

Four other STL Northern League are also hoping to complete their outstanding third round ties today at the third attempt, and join Spennymoor and Norton in the last 32.

Billingham Synthonia make the long trip across country to Herefordshire in order to play Westfields from the Midland Alliance. However, they are weakened by the absences of Nathan Jameson, Tommy Marron, Andy Harbron, Michael Jameson and Adam Clough.

Holders Whitley Bay, who haven’t lost in the competition since the 2008 semi final, face AFC Liverpool at Hillheads. Midfielder Gary Ormston returns after serving a suspension in the midweek defeat by West Auckland, while keeper Terry Burke and defender Darren Timmons both come back into the squad.

Dunston are at home to Heather St Johns, and manager Billy Irwin will be choosing from a full squad.

Ashington go down to Nottinghamshire in order to play Dunkirk from the Midland Alliance, and they will be without long term injuries Paul Dunn and James Harmison. Ashington warmed up nicely by beating Ryton 8-0 in the STL Northern League in midweek.

In the league, Division One leaders Consett face a stiff test at home to Newcastle Benfield. The Steelmen are currently five points clear at the top, and their only absentee will be injured striker Lewis Teasdale.

Benfield will include striker John Campbell, who scored a hat trick on trial for Swindon Reserves this week, while Shaun Bell will have a fitness test.

West Auckland, who are fifth, are at Tow Law, and will be missing new signing Matty Tymon because of a knee injury, but Mattie Moffat returns after suspension. Tow Law expect to be at full strength.

Billingham Town, whose dispute with Hartlepool seems to be no nearer to being resolved ahead of their court case next week, are at home to South Shields. They will be without injured striker Steve Roberts, otherwise they will be at full strength. Shields are missing defender Paul Stoneman because of suspension.

Bishop Auckland are at home to Sunderland RCA, and hoping to bounce back from their midweek trouncing which put them fourth bottom of the table. Manager Colin Myers welcomes back several players who missed the midweek game – Steven Turnbull, Simon Ord, Mark Henson, Adam Emson and Dan Olusoga -- while he is also hoping to sign midfielder Karl Everitt from Shildon. The RCA are missing Richard Logan and Michael Coghlan, who are both suspended.

Norton, who are at bottom club Ryton, are strengthened by the returns of Jamie Clarke, Richie Gaston and Michael Emerson, but they are still missing suspended trio Nathan Mulligan, Shaun Clarke and Craig Gott. Ryton are close to conceding a century of goals this season, and haven’t won in 19 league games.

Jarrow Roofing, who are at home to Bedlington, are without Dan Kirkup and Mark Elliott because of suspension, while Kris Hughes will have a fitness test.

Sixth bottom West Allotment go over to Penrith, and they will be at full strength except for Chris Jewels, who has a hernia problem.
