Thornaby are still going to play at Guisborough on Saturday, as a tribute to their secretary Peter Morris, who suddenly died this week.

Mr Morris suffered a heart attack while refereeing a Civil Service game last weekend, and died on Wednesday in the Freeman Hospital.

“Peter would have wanted the game to be played,” said Thornaby manager Ray Morton. The game will be preceded by a minute’s silence.

Guisborough, who are just behind leaders Newton Aycliffe, are missing striker Austin Johnson because of suspension. Thornaby have signed former Darlington midfielder Neil Radigan from Stokesley, so he will make his debut, while Matty Crossan and Dave Atkinson both return. A recent EA Cup fixture between the two sides saw Guisborough win 9-5.

Crook Town, who have suffered two successive league defeats, are at home to Gillford Park, and will be without several players because of injury, including leading scorer Andy Appleby and midfielder Anth Dobell. New keeper Graham Pickering continues in goal because of injury to Ian Myers. The league have announced that Gillford will play their first home game of the season next Saturday.

Marske United include new signing Karl Charlton, signed from Guisborough, in their side at home to Birtley. Charlton, who was at Whitby last season, played under Marske boss Paul Burton at Northallerton. Top scorer Danny Brunskill is missing because of injury. Birtley, who are in midtable, welcome back Nicky Evans and Ritchie Latimer to their side.

Chester-le-Street, boosted by wins against Crook and South Shields in the last week, go to bottom of the table Morpeth, and will be missing defender Nicky Kane, while midfielder Robbie Draper and striker Mark Davison will both have fitness tests.

Morpeth are still without a league win this season.

Sixth placed North Shields take on fellow promotion chasers Whickham, who are third. Shields are missing midfielder Robbie Livermore because of injury, while striker Michael Pattison will have a fitness test. Whickham welcome Sam McIntosh and Kris Holmes to their squad.

Northallerton, who are third bottom, have a tough home game against Whitehaven, and manager Mark Fanning will choose from a full squad.

In another local derby, Seaham Red Star face Washington, and will be without Neil Gough, Micky Turnbull, Jimmy Farrell and Stephen Jackson, but Aaron Croft returns. Washington are hoping that keeper Dan Molyneux is fir again, but player-manager David Lee is injured.

Horden can open up some daylight between them and the bottom three if they win at Team Northumbria, and they welcome back Michael Heckley, Ash Croker and Martin Langley to their side.

Second bottom Brandon can move closer to sixth bottom Hebburn if they beat them at the Welfare Ground. Phil Robinson will probably make his return debut after signing from Crook, while striker Glen Robson could return. Hebburn are missing their regular keeper Andy Hunter, so Kevin Duncan replaces him. Skipper Paul Catto and striker Marc Brocklehurst are also both missing.
