Ten man Billingham Synthonia went through to the second round in a dramatic extra time period at Bishop Auckland yesterday.
Bishops took the lead after 10 minutes with a low shot by youngster Arran Wearmouth, but Synners slowly got back into the game, and they levelled after 37 minutes through Michael Jameson, and three minutes later Chris Smith hit the post.
At the start of the second half, Stephen Turnbull restored Bishops’ lead from the spot after Mark Scott was red carded for a professional foul on Adam Emson, but Synners replied immediately through Jameson again.
Liam McPhillips fired Synners ahead after 111 minutes, only for Emson to level with five minutes left. But in the last minute, Colin Iley was brought down, and Nathan Jameson scored from the spot.
