West Auckland are still on the bottom of the table after they lost 2-0 at home to North Shields tonight.

West created the better chances in the first half with Kris Goss and Anthony Hume both going close, but it was Shields who took the lead with an effort by Gareth Bainbridge just before half time.

Hume missed a chance in the second half for West, and they were caught when Ryan McGorrigan scored for Shields right at the end.

Newton Aycliffe twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Washington at Moore Lane.

Washington took the lead just a minute before half time when Connor Okus scored, and when Dennis Knight equalised, Aycliffe looked set to go on and win. Washington’s Chris Winn though put his side back in the lead on 78 minutes, only for Jordan Laidler to equalise with eight minutes left.

Morpeth moved to within four points of leaders Shildon with a 5-2 away win at Consett, after being a goal down at half time.

Consett took the lead on 35 minutes when Dean Briggs crossed for Luke Sullivan to head in, but Morpeth equalised at the start of the second half when Lee McAndrew dribbled through and scored. They quickly took the lead with a strike by Sean Taylor, and then went further ahead with a header by Micky Chilton. Ben Sayer strolled through and scored the fourth, with Taylor adding his second of the game.

Danny Craggs pulled a late goal back with a free kick into the top corner.

In the ENL second division, South Shields beat Ryhope CW 2-0 .

Andy Bulford gave Shields the lead with a header from an Adam Sakr cross, then Michael Turner scored with a low cross from the left before half time.
