YORKSHIRE’S Adam Lyth says this season “could not have gone much better for him” after winning the county’s player of the year award.
The left-hander, who became the first player to reach 1,000 County Championship runs this season, picked up the gong during day three of the Tykes clash with Kent.
“It has been a fantastic year for me,” said Lyth, who also picked up the fielder of the year award.
“To pick up my county cap and these two awards in the space of a couple of weeks is a real honour for me. There were a lot of other candidates this season.”
Lyth becomes the youngestever winner of the prize at the age of 22.
Three other Yorkshire players were also awarded for their performances.
Jacques Rudolph won the players’ player of the year, with Jonathan Bairstow picking up the young player of the year award for the second season in a row.
Another to retain his trophy was Gurman Randhawa, who won the academy prize.
