CRICKET South Africa have released the itinerary for England’s winter tour of the country.
The sides will contest four Tests, five one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches between November 7 and the tourists’ return to England on January 19.
The tour opens with the Twenty20 fixtures in Johannesburg and Centurion, followed by the ODI series which takes in matches at the same venues as well as Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban.
The Test series gets under way on December 16 at Centurion, with the Boxing Day Test in Durban, the New Year Test in Cape Town and the fourth and final clash in Johannesburg.
Hugh Morris, England’s managing director, said: ‘‘It makes good sense to start with the ODIs given the schedule of cricket that we have in September, October and November 2009.
‘‘The four Test matches are scheduled for iconic grounds of South Africa and I am sure that thousands of England supporters will be looking forward to spending their Christmas and New Year holidays following the team.’’
