DURHAM have continued to build a solid first-innings total in the afternoon session on day one of their Specsavers County Championship Division Two clash against Derbyshire at Emirates Riverside.

The home side resumed on 68-2 after their exploits in the morning. Lees and Gareth Harte put on 57 for the third wicket, but their stand was broken when Tony Palladino trapped the latter lbw for 24 with a straight delivery.

The home side were able hold firm at the crease with Lees at the crease. He made his second Championship half-century of the season, displaying patience at the crease by reaching the milestone from 102 deliveries, scoring four boundaries.

Lees and Jack Burnham put together a partnership worth 53 and were seemingly comfortable in the middle. However, Lees played a loose drive when well set on 63, edging to Alex Hughes at second slip from a wide ball from Luis Reece. Durham were able to rebuild once again towards tea at 172-4, with Burnham unbeaten on 36 at the end of the session partnered by Liam Trevaskis.
