HULL 0 SUNDERLAND 1
ROSS Wallace grabbed a stoppage-time winner to send Sunderland soaring to 13th place in the Championship table, their highest position of the season.
The Scottish midfielder steered a 92nd-minute strike past Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill to finally break the deadlock at the end of a game the Black Cats dominated from start to finish.
But Wallace's subsequent actions came at a cost, with the 21-year-old earning a second yellow card for taking off his top as he celebrated his success.
The dismissal was Wallace's second of the season and will keep him out of Tuesday's game against Cardiff and Saturday's trip to Norwich.
The goal was no more than Sunderland deserved after they hit the woodwork on two separate occasions and saw both Daryl Murphy and Chris Brown pass up great opportunities to earn a much-needed three points.
