GARY Liddle, the former Hartlepool United midfielder, is poised to sign for Notts County.

After exiting Victoria Park at the end of the season when his contract expired, Liddle will link up again with former Pools' coach Colin West, who is part of the backroom staff at Meadow Lane under boss Keith Curle.

He had hoped to engineer a move to the Championship after six seasons at Victoria Park, but he will now be facing his former club in League One next season. Carlisle were also keen, and there was some interest from Bristol City.

But Liddle has opted for a switch to the Magpies after starting talks on Wednesday and all he needs to do now is pass a medical.

Nick Ward, the former Pools' fitness coach has been appointed to a similar role at Notts, which means he has now also worked with West at Sheffield Wednesday and Stockport.

Meanwhile, Pools have now sold 1,730 season tickets, including over 300 this week. They are available for only £155 (£125 over-60s, £75 u19s and £50 u13s) and depending on how many are sold, there is the chance to win £15,000 in a prize draw.

The club ticket office is open this morning from 9am-1pm.
