Peterborough United 3 Hartlepool United 5 HARTLEPOOL United secured their first away win of the season in some style.

Pools had not won away from Victoria Park since November 2005 when they triumphed at Bradford City.

And this season they had only scored once on the road in League One before this barnstormer at London Road.

They went one in front when Gary Liddle stepped up to curl a free-kick around the defensive wall from 25 yards.

And within seconds it was two. Joel Porter's run into the area was ended when Mark Arber handballed and Pools were awarded a penalty.

After four misses from five this season, Jon Daly took the responsibility and cooly netted.

Then they made it three right on half-time with a stunning team goal.

After six first-time passes, Daly turned in his second of the game.

It got even better when Liddle burst into the area to pass the ball confidently through the keeper's legs.

But then the game almost turned around on its head as Posh got three in 11 minutes.

They missed a penalty before Richard Butcher drilled a low shot across Dimi Konstantopoulos, then Peter Gain cut in from the left to fire into the net.

And when full-back Dean Holden strode forward to shoot past Konstantopoulos from 25 yards, Pools were hanging on for grim life.

But they witheld the storm and gained a two-goal lead to kill Posh off.

David Foley worked an opening for Matty Robson to crack home with his left foot from 12 yards to secure the most dramatic of victories.
