NOBBY Solano might have captured the headlines, and Colin Nish was the main striking target, but the capture of two prospects at Hartlepool United should not be overlooked according to Mick Wadsworth.

James Poole and Nathan Luscombe moved from Man City and Sunderland respectively and both could debut for Pools in their first pre-season friendly in Holland.

And Wadsworth admitted: "We had James Poole for two months last year and he showed enough then in both his ability and his character that he was always a player I would be interested in should he be available this summer.

"That was the case and we've snapped him up. He is very quick, has got really good technique and is very intelligent. I think he has got the makings of a really good player.

"He is versatile, he can play in the midfield, up front and as a left winger and that's important to have that versatility.

"Luscombe is a player who was highly rated at Sunderland and has been very unlucky with injuries.

"He is very talented and highly motivated. Game-wise we need to get him in good shape because he has had a tough two or three years with bad injuries.

"They are clear now. He is left-footed, very aggressive in his thinking and approach to his play and is another intelligent player who understands the game.’’

Pools sold 161 season tickets yesterday. They are £150 - but if 4,000 are sold the price for adults drops to £100. The current total stands at 3,271.
