STORM BRIG is a nice prospect for the Alistair Whillans team and should maintain his unbeaten record over obstacles in the North Sea Logistics Novices’ Hurdle at Newcastle today.

In fact he has only been beaten once in four starts, with that defeat coming in a bumper in March last year.

His hurdling debut was over two miles here in November and saw him account for Flinty Bay by eight lengths.

It is also worth noting runner-up Flinty Bay came out to get within three-and-a-half lengths of the smart Backspin and has only just missed out again, so the form is decent.

Tafika is a young horse to watch within the staying ranks and he can get off the mark in the Silver Bell Maiden Chase at Leicester.

Paul Webber thinks enough of the Kayf Tara gelding to have given him an entry in the four-mile National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham and it is easy to see why.

His best effort from three outings over timber was his fourth to the classy Lush Life at Sandown but he was only really marking time in that sphere.
