LIVERPOOL have completed the signing of Uruguay forward Luis Suarez on a five-and-a-half-year contract.

The 24-year-old passed a medical yesterday and completed the final details on the paperwork after the Reds agreed a deal with Ajax worth up to £22.8m on Friday.

Suarez, who scored 111 goals in 159 matches for the Dutch side, will wear the iconic number seven shirt made famous by the likes of Kevin Keegan and current manager Kenny Dalglish.

Meanwhile, Coventry teenager Conor Thomas has completed a loan move to Liverpool until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent move.

Thomas, 17, is the hottest young prospect on the books at the Ricoh Arena and has represented England at Under-17 level.

But his development has been relatively low key, with no suggestion of interest from England’s top clubs and his move comes out of the blue.

The central midfielder made his full Sky Blues debut in Saturday’s FA Cup defeat by Birmingham, just weeks after his first-team bow as a substitute in the third-round victory over Crystal Palace.

BEATTIE: Blackpool have completed the loan signing of experienced striker James Beattie.

Rangers confirmed that the 32- year-old would join the Seasiders until the end of the season.

Beattie has endured a frustrating time at Ibrox since moving from Stoke in August, making just ten appearances.

BRADLEY: Aston Villa have finally completed the loan signing of United States midfielder Michael Bradley for the remainder of the season. Bradley has made the temporary switch from Borussia Moenchengladbach.

STURRIDGE: Bolton manager Owen Coyle has strengthened his attacking options by signing Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge on loan until the end of the season.

Sturridge goes straight into the squad to face Wolves tomorrow after seeing his first-team opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge.

DIOUF: Rangers have signed El Hadji Diouf after finalising a loan deal in the final stages of the transfer window.

The controversial Blackburn player has joined the Clydesdale Bank Premier League champions until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old joined Arsenal defender Kyle Bartley in moving to Ibrox late on deadline day.

GUDJOHNSEN: Eidur Gudjohnsen has joined Fulham on loan from Stoke until the end of the season.

The Potters gave the go-ahead for the Iceland international to make the move shortly before the 11pm transfer deadline.

The 32-year-old former Chelsea and Barcelona striker then agreed personal terms with the Cottagers and passed a medical.

TUNCAY: Tuncay has completed his move from Stoke to Wolfsburg.

The Turkey striker has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at the VW Arena, the Bundesliga club confirmed this evening.

The 29-year had a medical with Steve McClaren’s men yesterday.

SAVAGE: Former Wales midfielder Robbie Savage has announced he will retire at the end of the season.

Savage, 36, began his career on Manchester United’s books before moving on to Crewe. He came to prominence at Leicester, before having spells with Birmingham and Blackburn and joining his current club Derby in 2008.

He quit international football in 2005, after winning 39 caps.
