RICKY Ponting is hearing it from all angles in Perth.

Speculation has become rife that should Australia lose the third Test, and therefore their shot at regaining the Ashes, Ponting would be replaced as captain. His predecessor, Steve Waugh, is the latest to start asking questions.

There is no respite out in the middle with the Barmy Army composing new songs targeting Ponting. They have distributed song sheets to make sure everyone knows the words.

NOT for the first time during this series, a case of mistaken identity has come to light. After cricket fans on Twitter hounded an American girl who used theashes as her identity, a Victoria woman has revealed how she gets bombarded with calls from reporters every time there is another revelation about Shane Warne’s private life.

Her problem, it transpires, is that she shares the name Simone Callahan with the legendary spinner’s ex-wife.

‘‘It seems as though whenever there’s a drama with Warne they’ll contact me,’’ Callahan said in the Geelong Advertiser, her wonderfully named local newspaper.

“The British tabloids are the worst. They’ve called my dad’s house and left messages for my cousin.

“Dad’s also getting contacted by emails and on Facebook.

“He loves it; he thinks he might make a few dollars out of it.”

She revealed how the phone calls and emails have been coming ever since the other Callahan married Warne, and they have only increased since the couple separated in 2005, with Warne’s ex taking back her old name.

“One minute I’ll get a guy emailing me telling me how fantastic I was on Dancing With the Stars and the next there’ll be one from cricket fans trying to get me to get him to sign a ball for them.”
