ENGLAND boss Steve McClaren is going back to his former employers at Middlesbrough to bring Boro assistant Steve Round into the national team set-up.
Round, 35, will replace Sammy Lee, who left his England role earlier this week, and will work with the senior squad on a part-time basis.
He will stay in his full-time role at Boro.
Former Middlesbrough head coach Terry Venables is expected to be McClaren's full-time assistant at England when the announcement on the new national team's backroom staff is made on Friday.
The new England boss will have Venables, Round and goalkeeping coach Ray Clemence on board to cover all the national side's coaching duties.
It is believed McClaren is also weighing up bringing in his sports psychologist from his Middlesbrough days, Bill Beswick, into a non-coaching role with England.
