COCONUT QUEEN continued the excellent form of Ann Duffield's horses when scoring in decisive fashion at Catterick yesterday.

The betting suggested the Constable Burton-based juvenile would have to play second fiddle to Mark Johnston's Carillon, but Coconut Queen had other ideas as the Royston French-ridden filly mastered the market leader in gritty fashion.

"Coconut Queen ran well in her two previous starts and is a very elegant filly," reported Duffield, enjoying by far her best ever Flat campaign with 25 winners so far in 2006.

The most valuable race on the card fell to Bronze Dancer, trained just up the road by Alan Swinbank.

Robert Winston bided his time on Bronze Dancer until producing the favourite with a surging late challenge to floor long-time leader, Aspasias Tizzy, 25 yards from the line.

"I sent out many winners for owner Mrs Gibson when I was at Malton and now Alan is doing the same," revealed Bill Haigh, assistant to Swinbank at his Melsonby-near-Richmond yard.

Winston went on to complete a 42-1 double by taking the seven furlong Handicap aboard Kabis Amigos.

In a tactical affair, Robert outsmarted his fellow jockeys by grabbing the near side stands' rail and hanging on grimly for the David Nicholls' stable.

Neil Callan was in similarly flying fettle, also recording a two-timer by virtue of collecting on both Tedstale (13-8) and Multahab (7-1).

Tedstale only just scraped home in the Claimer, however Multahab was far more impressive, the Newmarket raider mopping up the Redcar Handicap with a clear-cut triumph.

Flying Edge posted his second course victory in the six furlong Handicap under a superbly judged ride from Franny Norton.

"He's been running well all season and was in good order today," said winning trainer Eric Alston, who also owns a share in the speedy six-year-old.

l Aidan O'Brien's promising juvenile Holy Roman Emperor stands out among a 15-strong entry for the Independent Waterford Wedgwood Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

O'Brien's charge could be joined in the line-up by once-raced stablemate Theann. Kevin Prendergast is set to be well represented as he holds four entries at the five-day stage.
