MICK WADSWORTH takes his Hartlepool United side to Brentford this morning, with his future no more clear than it was four weeks ago.

Since Chris Turner quit, first-team coach Wadsworth has taken caretaker control of the first team.

Tomorrow will mark his seventh game in temporary command.

“I’m still in this position, I can’t comment on it. I carry on until I’m told otherwise.

I’ve a contract as first-team coach and I enjoy doing it,’’ he said.

“It it helps the club shortterm and long-term, I’m fine about it, I’m relaxed about the whole thing I enjoy working.

In Ritchie Humphreys and Micky Barron I’ve got real good support, as well as the rest of the backroom staff.

“It’s an enjoyable and rewarding e n v i r o n - ment, but for how long it continues, you will have to ask others about it.”

Pools are likely to be w i t h o u t k e e p e r S c o t t F l i n d e r s , after he suffered a hand injury in training yesterday. New loan signing Jake Kean, from Blackburn will start.

James Brown looks like being kept on the sidelines with an ankle injury. He did not join in training yesterday and is unlikely to travel.

That means Wadsworth will keep Fabian Yantorno in the side, part of a five-man midfield at Griffin Park. He has plenty of attacking output in there and, after conceding three times to Exeter last weekend, but has wondered about the lack defensive cover in there.

“Fabian and (Antony) Sweeney played last week together and we have looked at it, and it’s about balance,” said Wadsworth. “Both need to do some things a bit different at times, both can bring so much to the team.

“Fabian will work his socks off in midfield, he will chase and challenge. And likewise Tony, so there’s no reason why it can’t work.

“Away from home we can be a bit more patient and break away and we have done that well. It suits us, but we need to improve our home form too.

“It’s our fourth away game and we need some points.

Brentford, like us, see it as a winnable one. There’s no reason why we can’t do well in any game.”
