TIM Easterby usually takes a couple of weeks to get his team in top form but after hitting the ground running this term, his Fibs And Flannel can complete the hat-trick in Warwick’s TurfTv.co.uk Handicap.

Owned by Channel 4 pundit Jim McGrath, the three-year-old appears to be on a steep upward curve and completely different horse this season.

As a juvenile he showed very little, earning a handicap mark of 64. But he started this campaign at Beverley and was second at a big price before showing that was no fluke by returning to the Westwood to absolutely hack up in a seven-furlong handicap.

Easterby then sent him up to Hamilton and stepped him up in trip to a mile, which seemed to bring out even more improvement as despite a 6lb rise in the weights he won as he liked, with David Allan barely moving a muscle.

As that was only a few days ago Easterby has decided to get him out again before the handicapper has time to reassess him so he only has a 6lb penalty to contend with.

There is no doubt this is a better race than he has been contesting of late but he is on a roll and improving fast.

Mark Johnston’s Always Dazzling has been handed an initial mark of 67 in the Warwick For Conferences Fillies’ Handicap after just two runs and that could be pretty lenient.

Second on her debut at Ayr last season, the winner, Richard Fahey’s Lord Aeryn, went in again at Epsom recently.

Always Dazzling had little trouble winning a Redcar maiden in April and there should be more to come.

Baybshambles won the Annie Oxtoby Memorial Handicap at Beverley in 2008 and was beaten a nose in it last year so has to be of interest off 1lb lower.

He went up to a mark of 74 last summer but has slowly worked his way down to 67, 1lb lower than his last win – which was also at Beverley.

Crucially in a five-furlong sprint on the Westwood he has a high draw, in stall nine, so he should be bang there.

Jeremy Noseda has a 43 per cent strike-rate at Beverley in recent season so the fact Frankie Dettori is going to partner Dance East for the Shalfleet handler is a massive positive in the New Minster Grandstand Maiden Stakes.

Another Johnston inmate who could be worth following is Lady Eclair all the way down at Yarmouth in the First Furnishing Superstore 01493 445454 Handicap.

She relished the step up to 12 furlongs at Kempton and has another two to contend with here.

It is always worth noting when Dettori teams up with Gerard Butler and that is the case in the evening in Southwell’s Stef And Stelio in the Hospitality At Southwell Racecourse Selling Stakes.
