FORMER Newcastle Falcons player Adam Dehaty makes his first start since March for Blaydon at Redruth today, replacing his injured brother Matt on the wing, writes TIM WELLOCK.

Blaydon will fly out of Newcastle at 9.50am and be back at 8.05pm after deciding that flying down for their two matches in Cornwall is money well spent. They have tailored their rugby budget accordingly.

Ex-Westoe player Kerry Wood comes in at blind side for Mark Wilson, who has Falcons Development commitments on Monday night, while Naude Pretorius returns at lock, with Chris Wearmouth dropping to the bench.

Tynedale entertain Cambridge, who finished third last year despite losing 49-15 at Corbridge. The visitors won their last 15 games last season and have won three and drawn one in the current campaign.

Flanker Grant Rastall is back in contention for Tynedale after a lengthy absence, while prop Jonny Williams, centre Jack Harrison and winger Hamish Smales are fit after missing last week’s defeat at Sedgley Park.

Westoe visit Hull aiming to underline their improvement since losing their second game of last season 63-8 on Humberside.

They rallied to pip Hull to the North One title, but their only win from the opening four games in National League Two has been away to leaders Loughborough Students.

Director of Rugby Andy Howells has issued a few home truths following last week’s one-point defeat at home to Preston Grasshoppers.

He said: “The players are finding out this is a totally different ball game. Individuals have been making wrong decisions and that has cost us. At this level mistakes are going to be punished and must be eradicated.

“Last season Westoe probably played only two or three games of the intensity they are now experiencing every week. But we are getting there. There is not a lot wrong and I feel we are just a notch away from getting it together.

“Our speed in the backs is certainly causing problems, but then have come the lapses to spoil it.”

A lengthening injury list is causing anxiety, a particular blow being the loss of speedy winger Chris Clark for a month with a torn hamstring.

He joins scrum half Chris Judson (broken nose) and Graeme Haswell (cracked rib) on the sidelines, while a late decision will be made on No 8 John Dye, who has a calf injury.

Tom Burnham, 21, a Newcastle University student who made three appearances last season, is included in a 22-man squad, along with fellow flanker Ryan Foster, who has recovered from a head injury.

Charlie Rayner returns at fly half.

Middlesbrough host Stockport, the only team above them in National Division Three North. Rob Bellerby and Paul Norris resume their centre partnership, with Gordon Bland retaining his place on the wing and Jamie Muncer dropping to the bench.

Darlington Mowden Park are unchanged for the visit of Beverley, with ex-Barnard Castle player Graeme Seddon keeping his place after an excellent debut at open side. Centre Dean Kelbrick is fit again, but has to settle for a place on the bench, alongside Danny Brown and back row man Gareth Lodge.

West Hartlepool are without ankle injury victim Dan Boatman for the trip to Sheffield Tigers, so Dave Garside is added to the squad. In the backs Peter Hodgson and Colin Cheslin are fit to return.

After following two victories with two defeats, Darlington hope to get back to winning ways at home to North One East’s bottom club, Old Brodleians.

Joe Hargreaves replaces unavailable prop Joe Oselton and Matthew Brown comes in on the wing, with Sean McCartney on the bench as he is likely to be required for Falcons Development duty on Monday.

Dave Richardson returns at centre and it is hoped his brother Lee will be fit in two weeks, along with utility back Alex Lineton and No 8 James Knox.

Unbeaten Billingham again have three sets of brothers in every position from No 8 to 15 for the trip to struggling Durham City, who have front row problems throughout the club. Michael Hay has switched from hooker to prop, but both he and Mark Cammiss are injured and damage limitation is the best they can hope for against the freescoring leaders.

Stockton host for the first time unbeaten Team Northumbria, who lie second in Durham and Northumberland One. The students from Northumbria University have had two successive promotions.

Stockton stick with the squad that won at Alnwick last week, so fiery Chris Farrell retains his place in the centre. Coach Craig Lee is hoping one of his fly halves, Jeremy Good or Jamie Hauxwell, is fit enough to play in order to prevent him needing to pull on his boots again.
