PAULO Da Silva has become Steve Bruce's second signing of the summer at Sunderland.

The Paraguayan centre-back, who is captain of his country, has signed a three-year deal after turning down Tottenham.

The 29-year-old has had previous spells in Italy with Perugia and Venezia and has agreed to move from the Mexican league, where he has been playing for Toluca.

He has been capped more than 50 times for his country and has moved to Sunderland have holding talks on Wearside last week.

Da Silva follows Fraizer Campbell in signing for Bruce, after the former Manchester United striker agreed to move from Old Trafford in a deal worth £6m over the weekend.
