YORKSHIRE’S batting coach Kevin Sharp insists his side will need no lifting for tonight’s Twenty20 Cup match against Leicestershire at Grace Road.

The White Rose, fresh from a 41-run mauling at Durham on Wednesday, must win to keep alive their chances of making the quarter-finals.

They could still qualify with a win in their final game against Derbyshire at Headingley on Sunday, but that scenario would need other results to go their way.

“As far as we are concerned we have got to win two games.

If we do, I am sure that we will qualify,” said Sharp after reflecting on yet another dismal batting display.

“It won’t be hard (to lift the players). We have played enough Twenty20 cricket to know that you can be brilliant one night and not so good the next. You can be made to look very ordinary in this format.”

A mixture of poor shot selection and kamikaze running between the wickets cost Yorkshire the chance of chasing down 132 after a good bowling display had restricted the hosts to 131-7.

Yorkshire, despite the fact that they may still be without captain Anthony McGrath after a car crash last weekend, can do the double over Leicestershire.

The Foxes, who have won this competition twice before, are level on eight points with Yorkshire and Durham with two games still to play.

Director of professional cricket Moxon has revealed that he may not speak to wicketkeeper Steven Davies even though he has made an official written approach to Worcestershire.

Moxon also confirmed that the club have made new offers to out of contract pair Ajmal Shahzad and Matthew Hoggard, with the latter attracting interest from Worcestershire.
