STUART Broad removed West Indies dangermen Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan at Riverside this morning to leave England in the driving seat on the fourth day of the second Test.

The West Indies were 188-5 a lunch, a deficit of 381 to England's first innings and a gap of 182 to the follow-on target.

With rain forecast for this afternoon, England will hope to claim some more quick wickets after lunch to give themselves a chance of claiming victory tomorrow.

Chanderpaul was the first player to lose his wicket this morning as Broad displayed the kind of venom of consistency that had been missing in the early efforts of James Anderson and Graham Onions.

Chanderpaul, who will be rejoining Durham later this summer, had made 23 when he nibbled at a slight away-swinger from Broad and edged to wicketkeeper Matt Prior.

His overnight partner Ramnaresh Sarwan was moving on serenely at that stage, and he brought up his 15th Test hundred with a pulled boundary off Broad.

He was out seven balls later though, when he spooned a catch to Tim Bresnan at gully as he attempted to fend off a quicker delivery from the on-song Broad.

Brendan Nash is currently unbeaten on one, with wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin still to score.
