JUST five players were yesterday told they had no future with Hartlepool United, but there’s every chance more will follow out the exit door.

Goalkeepers Jan Budtz and Arran Lee-Barrett were both not offered new deals, as well as defender Jamie McCunnie and young professionals Joe Tait and Martin Young.

Contracts have been offered to Micky Nelson, Andy Monkhouse, Gary Liddle, Michael Mackay, Matty Robson and Matty Tymon. Pools have took up an option on the contract of Ritchie Jones.

But Nelson is unlikely to be around next season, with Hibs among a number of clubs interested in his services on a free transfer, should he opt to walk away.

“Michael is out of contract in the summer and he is free to leave Hartlepool,” said his agent Clive Hart. “Michael is open to offers and we will see what comes in before making a decision on his future.”

Andy Monkhouse is also interesting Bradford City.

No deals have been offered to Willie Boland or Rune Lange. Both have suffered with injury and Chris Turner will determine their fitness before making a decision.

Boland suffered knee ligament damage in the third game of the campaign and was ruled out for the season.

Lange made just three February appearances before suffering a shoulder injury that ruled him out.

He is in Norway and won’t be ready to resume full training until the end of June.

Turner already has signed Adam Boyd from Leyton Orient, and is confident of completing a season-long loan deal for keeper Dimi Konstantopoulos by the weekend.

Pools are also lining up a deal for Sunderland defender Peter Hartley, with former Chelsea prospect Harry Worley likely to arrive from Leicester after impressing during a reserve game last month.
