RISING Kheleyf looks a horse on the up and he can continue his progress with victory in the Boddingtons Redcar Straight-Mile Championship at the Cleveland venue.

The three-year-old failed to strike in four juvenile starts for Alan Swinbank but rounded out his campaign with an encouraging fourth at Pontefract last October.

Another winter on his back evidently did Rising Kheleyf the power of good, as he demonstrated by making a winning reappearance at Catterick last week.

Rising Kheleyf showed a good attitude to knuckle down in the final couple of furlongs and hold Foreign Investment by a length and a quarter, suggesting a further step up in trip from seven furlongs would not be an issue.

He races off a 6lb higher mark here, but Rising Kheleyf strikes as a typical Swinbank improver and could be one to rack up a sequence.

Mutheeb can live up to his tall home reputation by winning the Premier Racing Services Grand Opening In Lowestoft Conditions Stakes at Yarmouth.

Godolphin’s runner had just one start as a three-yearold but he put up quite a performance to win at Lingfield, losing several lengths at the start and being forced to race wider than ideal throughout.

The 825,000 son of Danzig shrugged off those disadvantages, though, to score by half a length against some admittedly average opposition.

He could only beat what was put in front of him and given that Mutheeb in entered in both the Queen Anne and Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot, he must have been showing something at home.

It will be interesting to see how he fares.

Chasca failed to follow up on her impressive debut success at Lingfield last time but she can make amends as she enjoys a first turf start at Folkestone.

The Namid filly looked a useful tool when winning by a cosy three-quarters of a length at the Surrey track in March, but nothing went in her favour when only fourth back at that venue on her most recent outing.

Being held up in a slowlyrun race evidently did not suit as she pulled far too hard and threw away any chance she may have had.

A switch to turf could be to Chasca’s liking, with any rain at Folkestone also likely to suit.

Lepido was a decent performer on the Flat and he finally opened his account over obstacles when holding stablemate Weststern (a winner on Tuesday) by just a neck at Wincanton earlier in the month.

He won a shade cosily that day and can defy a subsequent rise in the ratings to claim Hereford’s Rose & Lion In Bromyard Novices’ Handicap Hurdle Patton is one to stay on the right side from the Alan King powerhouse in the Racing UK Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon.
