NEWCASTLE United goalkeeper Steve Harper has signed a new deal to keep him at St James' Park.
The contract was offered over the weekend and the long-serving Easington-born shot-stopper is now contract to the club for a further three years.
Tottenham asked about his services during the transfer window, but were warned off and Spurs have now recruited Chelsea's Carlo Cudicini.
The development comes as Shay Given's future remains under question. Man City want to sign the Irishman, but Newcastle have insisted he is going nowhere.
