TOTTENHAM boss Harry Redknapp will face brotherin- law Frank Lampard Snr for the first time in his career when the Carling Cup holders continue their defence at Watford’s Vicarage Road tonight.

The pair barely trained on opposite teams when they played together at West Ham and Lampard was Redknapp’s assistant at Upton Park before the partnership was broken in 2001.

‘‘I was with him at West Ham for seven years but I wasn‘t a normal assistant manager to him – we are family,’’ Lampard said.

‘‘We‘ve always been on an even keel and talk about football in a natural way so I am looking forward to the game.

‘‘They are the holders and Harry is always desperate to get to Wembley and this is a chance for him.’’ Redknapp insists he would have offered Lampard a job but believed him to be settled in his ‘‘routine’’ of supporting his son Frank Lampard Jnr – then Watford last week appointed him football consultant to new manager Brendan Rodgers.
