THE future of former Sunderland loanee Lutsharel Geertruida is expected to be resolved in the coming days, with PSV Eindhoven hoping to strike a deal for the Netherlands international.
Geertruida was a useful squad member for Sunderland last season but the Black Cats opted against making his stay at the Stadium of Light permanent this summer, with the 26-year-old taking to social media last month to bid an emotional farewell to Wearside.
Geertruida is available to leave RB Leipzig this summer and isn't short of options, with a number of clubs in England and overseas having enquired.

It's now said PSV are closing in on a deal which, like his Sunderland move 12 months ago, will be an initial loan, but an agreement hasn't been rubber stamped just yet, with reports claiming Geertuida will make a final decision in the next 24 hours.
Ajax and Real Sociedad are both said to have been interested this summer, while Everton have also been strongly linked.
It's not clear whether the interest from the Hill Dickinson Stadium is still live, though the Toffees are very much still looking to sign a right-back.
Everton's chief executive Angus Kinner this week said Everton will hold out for their first choice right back target, even though that means they will not have a recognised specialist in that role for Saturday’s Premier League opener at home to Crystal Palace.
Geertruida finished last season playing and impressing at right-back for Sunderland. He's also comfortable playing in the heart of the defence or further forward in midfield.
Confirming he wouldn't be returning to Sunderland last month - by which point it was clear the Black Cats were looking elsewhere in the transfer market - Geertruida posted on social media: “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to represent Sunderland this past season. Making my Premier League debut at such a special club is something I’ll always be proud of, and being part of such a historic season makes it even more memorable.
“A big thank you to my team mates, the staff and everyone connected to the club for support throughout the year. I’ve enjoyed every moment, both on and off the pitch. I wish everyone at Sunderland nothing but the very best for the future. Thank you and good luck.”
