AIDAN MORRIS is a notable absentee from Middlesbrough's starting line-up for this evening's Carabao Cup first-round game with Wrexham.
Morris is understood to have suffered a minor injury in training this week, with Kim Hellberg not wanting to take any risks ahead of next weekend's Championship opener against Lincoln City.
With summer signing Myles Peart-Harris also unavailable because of injury, Adilson Malanda is expected to play in a hybrid role that will see him stepping into midfielder to partner Sebastian Berhalter, who is making his full Boro debut following his summer move from Vancouver Whitecaps.
Max Arfsten is making his debut at left-back, having completed his move from Columbus Crew at the start of the week, with Will Lankshear also making his first senior Boro appearance in attack.
Neto Borges will play at centre-half alongside Luke Ayling, enabling Arfsten to slot in on the left of the defence, with Jeremy Sarmiento also selected in the starting XI after coming off the bench in last weekend's friendly draw with Espanyol.
Youngster Fin Cartwright drops out of the side that started against Espanyol and is on the substitutes' bench.
