DURHAM’S Banks Homes Riverside stadium will host two international matches in 2027, with England’s men’s team set to visit Chester-le-Street for games against Pakistan and New Zealand.
England will take on Pakistan in a Metro Bank One-Day International on Sunday, May 23, with the game marking Pakistan’s first international fixture in the North-East since 2010. The game will form part of both teams’ preparations for the Cricket World Cup, which will take place later that winter.
New Zealand will then head to Chester-le-Street for a Twenty20 fixture against England on Tuesday, September 7.
There will be no England Women’s international at Banks Homes Riverside in 2027, with the women’s white-ball international schedule reduced due to the Ashes Test series taking place during the summer.

Durham Cricket’s marketing director, David Jackson, said: “It’s fantastic to be bringing two England Men’s international fixtures back to Durham once again, and we’re delighted to be hosting both a One-Day International and an IT20, meaning there’s something for every cricket fan.
“We’re especially pleased to welcome Pakistan to the Banks Homes Riverside on a Sunday. They haven’t played in the North-East for a number of years and it’s a fixture we expect will prove incredibly popular, with demand for tickets likely to be very high.
“Hosting England against New Zealand is always a special occasion too, with two of the world’s best T20 teams going head-to-head in what promises to be another outstanding international night at the Banks Homes Riverside.”
Ticket sale dates will be announced in due course, with Durham Cricket members receiving priority access to tickets as well as discounted prices.
Elsewhere in the 2027 programme announced yesterday, Southampton will stage its first Ashes Test from July 21.
The Utilita Bowl will host the fourth of the five matches in the 2027 series between England and Australia and become the tenth UK ground to hold a men’s Ashes Test.
The series will get under way at Trent Bridge – the most northerly venue – on Friday, June 18, the first time Edgbaston has not hosted the opening Ashes Test in the UK since 2015.
Lord’s will host the second Test, which starts on June 30, and Edgbaston the third on July 8. The final match at the Kia Oval begins on July 29.
Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford and Headingley in Leeds were not selected to host matches in the 2027 series, but have been chosen to feature in the 2031 edition.
