Middlesbrough FC’s former Ayresome Park home is celebrated in the latest artwork by renowned cartoonist and Boro fan Graeme Bandeira.

The piece, titled ‘Awesome Park’, pays tribute to the club’s historic ground with an aerial view that captures the iconic architecture, glowing floodlights, and the surrounding terraced streets.

It includes the famous Archibald Leitch stand and the Holgate End, and arrives in time for the club’s 150th anniversary in 2026.

Graeme Bandeira said: "The ‘Awesome Park’ artwork uses artistic licence to highlight the contrast between the dark, terraced streets around Ayresome Park and the illumination from the floodlights onto the lush green turf.

"It is a fond memory I will always have of our iconic old ground.

"I love nostalgia and this piece is part of a series of 12 artworks that will make up a new collection of Boro-inspired artworks that will also feature in an ‘Ayresome Revisited’ 2027 Calendar."

Ayresome Park was Boro's home from 1903 until 1995, when the team moved to the Riverside Stadium.

The final season at Ayresome Park saw Bryan Robson lead the side to promotion, marking a memorable end to an era.

Mr Bandeira, a former Yorkshire Post cartoonist and long-term Boro season ticket holder, has created several football-inspired works featuring club legends including Juninho, Gareth Southgate, and Bryan Robson.

The original artwork has already been sold, but prints and special ‘Boro bundles’ are available for purchase.

These bundles include both the artwork and books by Dr Warwick, a contributor to the club’s matchday programme.
