Here's how Middlesbrough's players rated in the 4-3 defeat to Leeds:

6 Dieng: Poor for the second Leeds goal when he should have beaten Patrick Bamford to the cross but couldn’t do anything for the other goals. Made a couple of good saves.

4 Dijksteel: First start since December and the full-back’s lack of football told. Conceded the penalty and caught out for the third and fourth goals.

6 Van den Berg: Will be desperately frustrated to have conceded four goals against a side that only had five shots on target. Couple of shaky moments for Van den Berg but wasn’t helped by a struggling Dijksteel to his right.

6 Clarke: Mixed bag for centre-half. Couple of sloppy passes almost punished but also made some crucial interceptions.

5 Thomas: Interception started the move for Boro’s opener but caught ball-watching for Bamford’s goal and troubled by Gnonto.

7 Howson: As tireless as ever in his 600th league start. What a story it would have been if he’d scored with stoppage time strike from the edge of the box.

8 O’Brien: Energetic, all action and tried to get Boro on the front foot at every opportunity. The midfielder won’t want the season to end. Strong case for Boro to make loan permanent in the summer, if possible.

6 Jones: Scored first goal. Bright down the right in attack but at times Dijksteel needed more help and support.

7 Azaz: Two assists in the first half, found pockets of space and knitted things together well.

6 Silvera: Flashes but struggled to get into the game and have much of an impact.

8 Latte Lath: Two fine goals to continue his superb run. Clearly full of confidence.

Substitutes:

7 Gilbert (for Dijksteel, 68): Confident cameo from the fringe midfielder.

7 Bangura (for Thomas, 68): Made an impact from the bench. Wouldn’t be a surprise to see him start at Cardiff.

Barlaser (for O’Brien, 76): N/A

Matthews (for Silvera, 86) N/A

Subs not used: Jones, Connor, Hoppe, Lennon, McCabe

Leeds: Meslier 7, Byram 6, Rodon 6, Ampadu 6, Firpo 7, Gruev 7, Gray 7, Gnonto 8 (James, 80), Rutter 8 (Kamara, 80), Summerville 9 (Anthony, 86), Bamford (Piroe, 74)

Subs not used: Darlow, Cooper, Shackleton, Gelhardt, Joseph

Man of the Match: Summerville. No surprise that the league’s best player was the game’s best player. Scored penalty and added a fine second, a class act.
