MICHAEL Carrick is looking forward to a get-together with Middlesbrough supporters to celebrate the efforts of his players this season.

Boro's end of season awards ceremony will take place at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Thursday, May 2, with tickets on sale now.

The event will recognise and celebrate the most memorable moments of the season for both the men and women's sides.

Fans will get the chance to vote for the award winners in the coming weeks - and can join management, staff and players in attendance on the night.

The event will be hosted by BBC Tees presenter Gary Philipson, who will interview Carrick, women's boss Michael Mulhern and captains Jonny Howson and Sarah Burn on stage. There will also be a live Q&A with a special guest.

Carrick said: “It’s always important to appreciate the efforts everyone has gone to. Sometimes when you’re winning games or you’re having success, those efforts are easy to see.

"But whether you’re having success or having struggles or whatever, it’s never not for the want of trying, sacrifice and effort from everyone.

"I think it’s important we do understand that and recognise that. It has been a season that we’ve had to appreciate that more. It’s had a little bit of everything but hopefully we can finish on a real high and have something to share together."

It's been a rollercoaster season for Boro, who endured a tough start but have improved as the campaign has gone on - and also enjoyed a memorable run to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup before being knocked out by Chelsea.

The Player of the Year award is still very much up for grabs, with no obvious stand-out winner as things stand. Rav van den Berg is a strong contender after a hugely impressive first season on Teesside, while Jonny Howson has again underlined his importance. Matt Clarke has been outstanding since his return from injury, Seny Dieng has established himself as a key figure and Emmanuel Latte Lath is finishing the season in fine form.

The Women's side have enjoyed a superb campaign, their first full season since the merger with the club last summer.

Mulhern's side are still in with a shout of winning promotion from Division One North. They trail Hull City by just a single point, though the league leaders do have a game in hand.

Tickets for the end of season awards night are available now, priced at £30 or £25 for season ticket holders.
