Sunderland are in action when they take on Huddersfield Town in the Championship on Wednesday.

Here are all the details you need to know about the game…

WHERE IS THE GAME TAKING PLACE?

Having seen off Plymouth Argyle at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, Sunderland head out on the road this week as they take on Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Black Cats will be out for revenge after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to the Terriers in late November, in a game that helped herald the end of Tony Mowbray’s reign on Wearside.

Sunderland are unbeaten in their last five away matches against Huddersfield, with their last away defeat to the Terriers having come in the League Cup in October 1991.

Last season’s meeting became the two clubs at the John Smith’s Stadium came in November 2022, and saw Sunderland win 2-0 thanks to second-half goals from Alex Pritchard and Amad Diallo.

WHAT TIME IS KICK-OFF?

Wednesday’s game kicks off at 7.45pm.

ARE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE?

No – Sunderland have sold out their entire allocation of away tickets for the John Smith’s Stadium.

Michael Beale’s side will be cheered on by a travelling contingent of 2,333 away fans.

IS THE GAME BEING TELEVISED OR STREAMED LIVE?

Yes – Wednesday’s game is being televised live on Sky Sports and will be available on the Sky Sports Football channel via the red button.

With the game being broadcast live on TV, there is no domestic streaming available.

Radio coverage of Wednesday’s game will be available on BBC Radio Newcastle, and The Northern Echo’s Scott Wilson will be at the John Smith’s Stadium producing a live blog, report, ratings, reaction and analysis on The Northern Echo’s website.

WHAT IS SUNDERLAND’S LIKELY LINE-UP?

Jobe Bellingham came off the bench to score in the second half of Saturday’s win over Plymouth, so Michael Beale will have to decide whether to restore the attacking-midfielder to the starting line-up against Huddersfield.

If Bellingham starts, it is likely to be at the expense of either Patrick Roberts, who started on the right at the weekend, or Abdoullah Ba.

Nazariy Rusyn led the line effectively at the weekend, and is expected to retain his place in the ‘number nine’ role on Wednesday.

Elliot Embleton has been stepping up his return from injury in the last couple of weeks, and is pushing for a place in a senior matchday squad.

Sunderland (probable, 4-1-4-1): Patterson; Hume, O’Nien, Ballard, Hjelde; Neil; Ba, Ekwah, Bellingham, Clarke; Rusyn.

HOW ARE HUDDERSFIELD SHAPING UP?

Huddersfield head into the midweek programme sitting in 21st position in the Championship table, just two points clear of the relegation zone.

The Terriers remain under the caretaker management of Jon Worthington, following the dismissal of former boss Darren Moore last month. They lost 5-3 at Southampton at the weekend, having been 2-0 up at one stage, and have won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions.

Defender Josh Ruffels has been ruled out of the rest of the season following hernia surgery, but Huddersfield will be hoping Radinio Balker is able to return in defence after he was forced to miss the Southampton game because of an illness.

Rhys Healey (groin) is an injury doubt, along with Michael Helik (knee) and Delano Burgzorg (ankle).

Huddersfield (probable, 3-4-3): Nicholls; Pearson, Lees, Balker; Kasumu, Matos, Hogg, Spencer; Rudoni, Koroma, Thomas.
