A hotel has caused hilarity after making a cheeky jibe at a set of football fans who were staying at the venue.

After Middlesbrough Carabao Cup heroics earlier this week, where they beat Chelsea 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium to set up a thrilling return fixture at Stamford Bridge, one Teesside hotel couldn't help themselves.

The Spa Hotel in Saltburn couldn't hide their obvious bias for Middlesbrough on Wednesday (January 10) morning following the game on Tuesday, after serving up Chelsea fans staying at the hotel a cooked breakfast with a very subtle difference.

Arranging the visiting supporters' food with a sausage to form a 'one', beans to form a gap in between and a tomato to represent the 'zero', the hotel was only too pleased to gloat about the score.

After posting the image online, it received a lot of funny reactions, alongside over 500 social media reactions and comments aplenty.

The image had a caption alongside it, which read: "When you’ve got a group of Chelsea fans staying over and your kitchen team serve them up a little breakfast treat. Up the Boro."

The post, which was from Wednesday morning, caused humourous reactions from Middlesbrough supporters, with one person saying: "This is brilliant," while another added: "This is the sort of football banter I'm here for - harmless and brilliant."

While the hotel made Middlesbrough fans laugh, it'll be back down to hard work for the players, who play against Millwall away this Saturday, before playing Rotherham, and then the second leg of the Chelsea game at Stamford Bridge on January 23.

Middlesbrough will be hoping they can make it to the final and face either Liverpool or Fulham, who are also vying to make it to the Carabao Cup Final.
