EX-Middlesbrough loanee Zack Steffen has left Manchester City to join Major League Soccer side the Colorado Rapids.
Steffen, 28, joined City during the summer of 2019 from the Columbus Crew and went on to make 21 appearances in all competitions, playing in the 2021 Carabao Cup final win over Tottenham.
Last season, Steffen was on loan at Boro, helping them reach the Sky Bet Championship play-offs.
The Rapids confirmed Steffen had signed a three-year contract through 2026 with a club option for an additional year, having acquired his discovery rights from the New England Revolution in exchange for 50,000 US dollars (£39,400) in 2024 General Allocation Money.

“We are incredibly happy to bring Zack to the club. He is a top player with big experiences, and we know he will add so much to our group,” said Rapids head coach Chris Armas on the club’s website.
“His quality, leadership and winning mentality will help us for years to come.”
Steffen recently admitted he would love to have re-signed for Boro last summer after enjoying an "awesome" year on loan last season - but says the failure to win promotion all but ended his hopes of a Riverside return.
When Boro missed out on promotion and he knew a return to the Riverside was no longer on the cards, he opted to have surgery on a knee issue, but he's now fit again.
