HUDDERSFIELD Town boss Darren Moore is anxiously awaiting an injury update ahead of Friday night's game against Middlesbrough, with the Terriers potentially facing something of a goalkeeper crisis.

Town's first choice keeper Lee Nicholls will be missing with concussion and his deputy Chris Maxwell is a major doubt having been forced off in the first half of the Boxing Day win over Blackburn.

Jacob Chapman came off the bench to make his Huddersfield debut four years after joining the club and the Australian could now be in line for his first Town start. Prior to his Boxing Day outing, Chapman had only made two previous league appearances in England which came during a loan spell with Salford.

Moore is now awaiting further news from Town's medical team before making a selection decision ahead of the Boro game.

"I'm always hopeful (Maxwell will be fit) until the medical team tell me otherwise and I have to have that approach," said Huddersfield's boss.

"Only then when I get to speak to them to see what level he's at, we'll go from there. We'll see where that is tomorrow (Friday)."

Moore insists he'll have no concerns if he needs to play Chapman, who kept a clean sheet against Blackburn after being introduced from the bench.

Moore said: "I thought credit to Jacob and how he came in and performed. The biggest word I can use is he kept it solid and clean but it showcased why he's been on the bench and how he's been training and performing.

"For one so young to come in at that time and have those concentration levels and contribute to the team was tremendous, really."

Town, who are five points above the Championship relegation zone, are looking for successive wins for the first time this season.

Moore said: "That's got to be the focus for the group and the team. And for the supporters, to come and get right behind the team and make the John Smith's as loud as we know it can be.

"We got that from the supporters against Blackburn, certainly when he scored the first goal. And we need more of the same from everybody who is turning up to play their part."

Boro are looking to bounce back after the Rotherham defeat which followed successive wins, but three defeats in a row came before that. Quizzed on the inconsistency of Michael Carrick's side, Moore said: "It's a tough league. That's the reason why.

"Most teams have been inconsistent and that's because it's a tough league and anybody can beat anybody.

"We as a team and a club are focusing on the game  and making sure we're best prepared and focused. You'll see two teams going at each other. We expect another tough game, we know it will be tough, but that's our mindset going into every game.

"In front of our home fans, it's a marvellous arena to play football and when the crowd is in full voice it's a special place. I mean that."
