6 Dieng: Only three of Swansea’s 10 shots were on target. Not helped by defenders in front for goal.

5 Dijksteel: Along with Jones, failed to block the cross for the goal. Sloppy in possession, needs to settle and take advantage of this opportunity in the side.

6 Fry: It was down the flanks that Swansea looked most threatening in the first half. Breakdown in communication between Fry and van den Berg allowed Lowe free header for the goal. Otherwise solid.

7 Van den Berg: Another assured defensive performance, who was decisive in the tackle and comfortable on the ball.

5 Bangura: Surprise inclusion at the expense of Engel. Struggled to get to grips with Swansea’s attack in the first half, with the home side creating a string of chances down that side. Couple of promising attacks in the second half before he was replaced.

7 Howson: Boro had to chase the games at times and faced some difficult spells but Howson helped Boro get a grip.

6 Barlaser: Tidy enough in possession but lacked steel at times in the first half. Improved after the break.

6 Jones: Struggled to get into the game in the first half. Livelier after the break, when he went close with counter and hit the bar in stoppage time.

6 Crooks: Quiet in first half before moment of magic created the opener when he picked out superb reverse pass for Greenwood.  Found pockets of space early in second half before equaliser. Replaced.

6 Greenwood: Quiet for the most part but had Boro’s only shot on target before his opener, which he took well.

6 Latte Lath: Didn’t get much of a look-in in the first half. Looked a danger on the last man as Boro threatened on the counter in the second half. His run led to mix-up for pass-back. Tireless.

Substitutes:

7 Rogers (for Crooks, 71): Cleverly drifted around the pitch. Had a hand in winner with touch to Silvera.

7 Silvera (for Greenwood, 71): Kept his cool and picked his spot with winner shortly after coming off the bench. His positivity helped Boro back on to front foot after difficult spell.

6 Engel (for Bangura, 71): Solid and steady from the bench.

Glover (for Dieng, 90+1): N/A

Subs not used: Clarke, Gilbert, Coulson, Nkrumah, Kavanagh

Swansea: Rushworth 5; Key 7, Darling 7, Cabango 6, Humphreys 6 (Yates, 81), Tymon 7; Fulton 6 (Patino, 87), Grimes 6, Paterson 6 (Bolasie, 81); Walsh 6 (Cooper, 64), Lowe 7 (Cullon, 87)

Subs not used: Fisher, Wood, Naughton, Parker

Man of the Match: Silvera. Says a lot about the game and Boro’s performance in general that a player introduced so late gets Man of the Match. But Carrick couldn't have wished for much more from his sub. He helped get Boro back on front foot, pressed high and scored winner.
