7 Patterson: Good early save to tip Summerville free-kick around the post after just four minutes. Credit to defenders in front he didn’t have many saves to make after that.
9 Hume: Set the tone as he crunched into early challenges on Spence and James. Did an excellent job on the dangerous Summerville.
9 Seelt: Justified his selection with an excellent defensive display. Made a string of timely interceptions, was comfortable on the ball and a threat in the opposition box. Only denied a goal by a stunning Meslier save in the first half.
9 Ballard: Outstanding at the heart of the back three. Early slide tackle was one of a number of pivotal interceptions. Rutter didn’t get a kick.
8 O’Nien: Like his fellow central defenders, didn’t put a foot wrong. Supported Huggins in keeping James quiet.
8 Huggins: Frustrated Dan James. Disciplined defensively and effective in joining in with the attack and supporting Jack Clarke.
8 Neil: Tireless in trying to contain Leeds early on then helped Sunderland wrestle control. Won the midfield battle.
8 Bellingham: Leeds swarm all over their opponents but Bellingham was never flustered or panicked. So calm and cool. And on hand head home the winner.
6 Ba: Helped to pin Spence back but struggled to really get into the game. A few flashes of his quality.
8 Clarke: Young Archie Gray is a brilliant talent but he’ll be having nightmares about Clarke, who tortured him, particularly in the first half.
8 Pritchard: Found pockets of space in the first half and his influence grew as the game went on. Another assist after two on Saturday with his header into the path of Bellingham.
