EDDIE HOWE has made eight changes to his Newcastle United side for this afternoon's Premier League home game with Arsenal.

Sean Longstaff, Joelinton and Anthony Gordon are the only players to retain their places from the side that kicked off Wednesday's Carabao Cup victory over Manchester United.

That means Howe has reverted to the team that kicked off Newcastle's last league game, which was a 2-2 draw with Wolves at Molineux.

Fabian Schar has recovered from illness to return to the heart of the back four, where he will partner fellow centre-half Jamaal Lascelles.

Bruno Guimaraes returns in midfield, meaning Joe Willock has to be content with a place on the substitutes' bench despite scoring at Old Trafford in midweek.

Arsenal are without the injured Gabriel Jesus, which means Eddie Nketiah starts up front.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has named Takehiro Tomiyasu at left-back, with Oleksandr Zinchenko on the bench.
